I would like to thank Captain Ken Strimple for the most unique fishing charter I've ever been on. On November 8, 2009 Captain Ken took myself and my cousin Gary on a hike with back packs down to the Genesee river gorge.  He then inflated a small raft and brought us over to a destination only accessible by boat. It was a gorgeous day and  we were there looking to catch King Salmon and Steelhead Trout.  There was a beautiful Rainbow above us that was created by the sun glistening off the mist of the huge waterfall which was only twenty yards away. The fishing started out slow; the fish were just not in the mood to bite the conventional bait (Salmon Eggs). This is when Kens' expertise came into play; he had us try out a few different lures he thought might work and sure enough within 20 minutes we were onto a pattern that was really working.  I landed a 43" King Salmon that took almost ten minutes to land and just a few minutes later Gary also caught a 42" King. I finished the day catching Four Kings and One Steelhead. I had an absolute blast since I had never caught a salmon before!  Gary also caught four Kings.  Needless to say Gary and I were completely satisfied with our experience with Lets Catch Fish and Captain Ken Strimple. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My son Nick, and I were checking out potential spots on the Irondequoit creek in Rochester, NY and, with pure luck, we ran into Ken behind a shopping center as he was taking a break for lunch. He recognized that we were from out of town and we were intrigued by the Let's Catch Fish stickers all over his truck. We hit it off right away and made

arrangements for Ken to show us the best spots the next day.

We met early in the morning and started on Lake Ontario. Ken set us up with the right rigs, tackle and bait and it wasn't long before we landed a nice steelhead. After things got a little quiet, he took us to another spot on a tributary that feeds the lake. We had a few bites, but we were too slow and missed them (probably a few browns).

We wrapped up the morning in the last spot which was near the place that we met Ken. This was a tributary creek that fed into the Ironequoit and we spotted a few salmon although we couldn't get them to hit on anything in the morning. Our luck would change later that day when we started applying some the lessons we learned from Ken.

Ken had provided us with a variety of baits and rigs, as well as setting us up with the right equipment. The best thing we learned from him was to keep trying different combinations until something worked to attract the fish. We scored early with one of his salt minnows that we fished with a float on the lake to catch a steelhead. Now we were mixing it up in the tributary creek and things were picking up.

We started to get hits on king salmon when we switched to Ken's egg sacks which we used on the hooks and fluorocarbon leader that we purchased from his store. This proved to be the right combination as we started getting some action that led to us landing about 9 fish between me and my son. Nick caught most of them and I have attached a couple of photos of one that he caught and released in the tributary.

We had a great time with Ken as our guide. He is extremely enthusiastic about encouraging people to fish and he wants to make sure that his guests have a memorable experience. He did a great job of equipping us with the right stuff and showed us a number of places to try, which we did later in the day and the following one. Ken also has a great respect for the well being of the fish and sets a great example for other fisherman. We highly recommend Ken as a guide and we look forward to returning to Rochester in the near future to catch fish with him.

Captain Ken,

When I first contacted you to secure a date in which my son and I could hire you as a fishing charter, I felt comfortable and confident that we would soon have memories and stories to last a long time.  I appreciated your interest in understanding our level of accomplishment within the sport of fishing... and what my expectations would be when we secured the "Let's Catch Fish" experience.

Your urgency for us to consider Canadice Lake in the middle of August would soon be much appreciated.  Talk about picturesque!!  Throughout the trip, not only did we have tons of fun catching bass and pickerel with you .. but as important to us was the education you shared regarding different fishing techniques/ ideas while using a variety of artificial lures.  Perfect for our weekend, novice approach to the sport.  Yeah, that's right.... I now refer to fishing as a "sport" (ha ha).

I know that I will always remember the excitement on the face of my 9 year old boy, and the pride he has gushed for weeks reliving how and where he landed his first 3 lb. largemouth (not to mention the frequency in which we recalled every detail of our outing in story-form, over and over again)!

I'm certain we will fish again soon with Let's Catch Fish, and we can't wait to reel in some monsters with you and Samson!

Enthusiasts for life,

- Alan and Nick Caretta
